Synopsis
Twenty-year-old Charlie returns from boarding school to take care of Laura, his sick mother, a farmer in Virginia. Years of unspoken resentment damage the relationship between the two women and their daily life on the farm. Solange, Laura’s mother, Charlie’s grandmother, who, after a long absence, also arrives at the farm… She is French, feminist and eccentric. Solange left America when her daughter was still a child and they never saw each other much. These three women that nothing seems to bring together, will they manage to live together?
Catherine Deneuve est non seulement comme un poisson dans l’eau au milieu d’un élevage de poules, mais elle joue avec une visible jubilation une grand-mère légère et lucide, à la liberté folle, féministe de la première heure.
Catherine Deneuve excelle dans le rôle de cette femme qui, si elle n’a jamais su se sentir mère, parvient presque à se sentir grand-mère.
